So if you just want a number, here is a range: <strong>The price of a new logo is somewhere between DKK 1,500 and DKK 10,000,000.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, if you want to understand the pricing and value behind developing a <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/the-marketing-dictionary\/#logo\">logo<\/a>, please read on. I will give you more realistic price ranges, structured according to where you are in the logo process and the context you are working in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mt-blog-post-text-box mt-blog-post-text-box\"><div class=\"mt-blog-post-text-box__inner page-container\"><div class=\"mt-blog-post-text-box__box\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The price depends largely on 1) how well-developed your identity and story already are, 2) where you need to be taken from and to, 3) the level of risk in the project, and 4) not least, the value of the logo to your brand.     <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is why a fixed \u201ca logo costs X kroner\u201d rarely makes sense unless you know your starting point.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even so, I will try to set some parameters for the price\u2014but before I do, there are two things you should keep in mind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Disclaimer 1<\/strong>: We will work with ranges, but far less broad than the first one. Remember: all projects are different and the depth of the work varies, but just read along. The range is useful\u2014also for you.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Disclaimer 2<\/strong>: We take ourselves and our surroundings as the point of departure, which are somewhat further along in the process of creating a logo. So fiver.com, a Czech freelancer, or a design from Malaysia are not included in this post. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enough about that\u2014let\u2019s get started!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"prisen\">\u201cWhat is the price of a visual identity?\u201d is a better question<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First and foremost, I would like to nuance the question \u201chow much does a logo cost\u201d a bit, because you cannot answer it without talking about <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/the-marketing-dictionary\/#visuel-identitet\">visual identity<\/a>. But isn\u2019t a logo a big part of a visual identity, you ask\u2014yes, and that is the point. It is about looking at the identity on its own before we translate it into something visual.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your logo is the cornerstone and the closest you get to an \u201cavatar\u201d for your <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/what-is-branding\/\">brand<\/a>. So to create a logo, you need to know what it is meant to speak into. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mt-blog-post-text-box mt-blog-post-text-box\"><div class=\"mt-blog-post-text-box__inner page-container\"><div class=\"mt-blog-post-text-box__box\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The logic is that a logo is part of the visual identity. So before you can create a <span class=\"mt-text-highlight\">VISUAL<\/span> identity, you need to know what the company\u2019s <span class=\"mt-text-highlight\">IDENTITY<\/span> is<\/strong> (*insert the feeling that everything suddenly makes sense*).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"definition\">Phase 1: Defining the company\u2019s identity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A company\u2019s identity contains the following 4 elements, in order of priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>1 \u2013 The vision: Your direction<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vision is the foundation and the answer to \u201cwhat do you, as an organisation, want to achieve?\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is your North Star, and in organisations with a strong culture it is used as a decision-making tool. So when you face a challenge, you should ask yourself: \u201cWhat would bring us closer to our vision?\u201d\u2014and then do what the answer tells you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>2 \u2013 The mission: Your method<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mission is a narrative of: \u201chow will you achieve your vision?\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What is your secret sauce? Your capability? Your secret weapon? What do you do, day to day, to get closer to your dream state (the vision).   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>3 \u2013 The values: Your guiding principles in everyday life<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your set of values is a set of supporting rules for how you want to behave while you try to achieve your vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is the values that should shape the culture in the organisation, as values are often more tangible and less lofty than the vision. Therefore, values are easier for all employees to navigate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the values stem from the vision, you are more likely to ensure that, as an organisation, you move towards the vision by \u201csimply\u201d living by the values in the daily grind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bonus info: You should never have more than 4 (core) values, as they become too difficult to remember, and statistically they start to overlap\u2014or worse: contradict each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4 \u2013 The core story: Your reason for being <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crowning achievement is to write the truthful story of the company:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Why do we exist?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is our purpose?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is our reason for being?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The core story should describe <em>what<\/em> underpins the company\u2019s vision, <em>why<\/em> the mission was connected, and <em>how<\/em> the values were chosen\u2014but as a flowing narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A core story is, in other and more buzzword-friendly terms, your \u201cWHY\u201d. <strong><em>Why<\/em><\/strong> do you do what you do? And why do you care about the values and virtues that you do? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A good example of what Phase 1 means in practice is our work with Dansk Skoleidr\u00e6t. The visual identity only made sense because the story, direction, and values were clearly defined. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/cases\/danish-school-sports-new-visual-identity-and-web-universe\/\"><span class=\"mt-text-highlight\">Read the case about how we developed Dansk Skoleidr\u00e6t\u2019s visual identity here.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"et\"><strong>The price for Phase 1 and defining the identity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on how complex your organisation is, how far along you are in terms of awareness, etc., the budget for developing a vision, mission, values, and core story will fall within the range of: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DKK 20,000 \u2013 350,000<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many will already have these things in place; others are undergoing major, complex changes that the visual identity needs to support sharply. For some, working with the questions in Phase 1 is complex and requires a long time within the company and input from external parties. For others, things are more straightforward and simple.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In connection with <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/content-concept\/visual-identity\/\">our work on visual identities<\/a>, we will not require that Phase 1 has been completed and thoroughly documented. However, we will never start designing for a client without the questions having been asked and answered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"udarbejdelse\">Phase 2: Developing the visual identity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Already in Phase 2, we get to what you originally asked for: the logo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on the answers and direction from Phase 1, the visual elements can be shaped. The focus here is most often the logo, as it is central. But it will also typically involve colours, fonts, graphic elements, tactile elements (things you can touch), imagery, and video style. All of this translated into where you need to exist visually\u2014analogue and digital.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"647\" height=\"474\" src=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/logotype-1.png\" alt=\"Illustration of Morningtrain&#x2019;s logo\" class=\"wp-image-48115\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/logotype-1.png 647w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/logotype-1-300x220.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 647px) 100vw, 647px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But today we are gathered to talk about the logo\u2014so:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The logo should ideally visualise the core you defined in Phase 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Who the company is (the vision)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What you do (the mission)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why you do it (the core story)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And your values<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In addition, you should also consider:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Does the logo work online?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Does the logo work in print?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are there details in the logo that are not clear?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Does the logo create any unfortunate or inappropriate connotations for the target audience?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What other graphic context does the logo need to work within?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are there elements in the logo that we pull out and use in other contexts?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which logo versions need to be created?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Should sub-brands be placed under it, or should there be a primary digital logo and a simplified print version for a possible physical product you deliver?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And 100 other things.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"878\" src=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Dansk-Skoleidraet-forklaring-paa-logofigur-1024x878.jpg\" alt=\"Dansk Skoleidr&#xE6;t explanation of the logo figure\" class=\"wp-image-58383\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Dansk-Skoleidraet-forklaring-paa-logofigur-1024x878.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Dansk-Skoleidraet-forklaring-paa-logofigur-300x257.jpg 300w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Dansk-Skoleidraet-forklaring-paa-logofigur.jpg 1680w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So even though the deliverable at this phase (at first glance) may seem small, it is the \u201cresult\u201d of many hours of consideration, discarded logo proposals, and strategic decisions. After all, it is your company\u2019s identity we are illustrating together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"to\">The price for Phase 2 and developing the logo<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The range here could again be broad, but we took the median of the logos we have produced ourselves and looked at our local market. It is both inspiration for the visual life and the boundaries creative minds must stay within. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"757\" mt-blog-post-text-box\"><div class=\"mt-blog-post-text-box__inner page-container\"><div class=\"mt-blog-post-text-box__box\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In other words, the design guide translates the logo into how you, as a company, appear out in the world. In that way, your visual identity goes from being an idea to having executable guidelines. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tre\">The price for Phase 3 and creating the design guide<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The price naturally depends on how \u201cthorough\u201d a design guide you want. The price is at the lower end if you only need a definition of colours, fonts, typefaces, and\/or similar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But if, on the other hand, you need translation a logo realistically <strong>can cost between DKK 20,000 and 75,000<\/strong> in our book (there are, of course, exceptions at both ends).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In our view, you foundational story to a finished visual identity and logo.<br\/><strong>Typical price:<\/strong> DKK 50,000 \u2013 425,000<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mt-accordion-item
