And here is the point: AI still primarily pulls its knowledge from the top results in Google. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So if you want to be in the game for AI visibility, you still need to have your SEO fundamentals in place. So I dug into the data\u2014and yes, it confirmed my gut feeling: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mt-blog-post-text-box mt-blog-post-text-box\"><div class=\"mt-blog-post-text-box__inner page-container\"><div class=\"mt-blog-post-text-box__box\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udc49 <strong>AI Overviews still depend on classic SEO. \ud83d\udc48<br\/><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Here is what the numbers show:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>99.5%<\/strong> of <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/what-are-google-ai-overviews\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"63273\">AI Overviews<\/a> use sources from the <strong>top 10 in the SERP<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>77%<\/strong> use <strong>only<\/strong> top 10 results<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>88%<\/strong> of AI Overviews are for <strong>informational searches<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only <strong>8.9%<\/strong> are about <strong>transactional keywords<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So when someone says that <em>GEO is something completely different from SEO<\/em>, then no\u2014it isn\u2019t.<br\/>GEO is simply <strong>SEO + a few structural layers on top<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But that does not stop certain consultants from selling it as a new revolution\u2014preferably with a 200\u2013300% markup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"hvaderdet\">So what is GEO, really?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is about becoming visible in, for example, Google\u2019s AI Overviews.<br\/>It sounds new\u2014but it is built on the old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you want to rank in AI?<br\/>Then start by ranking in organic search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is where the systems get their input. And they get it <strong>almost exclusively<\/strong> from the classic SERP landscape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"fejler\">Why do 90% of GEO strategies fail?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because they ignore the foundation.<br\/>They try to \u201chack\u201d their way to visibility in AI without having the basics in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Here are some typical mistakes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>People <strong>do not understand tokenization<\/strong>\u2014that is, how AI actually reads and understands content.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People <strong>prioritize AI visibility over SEO<\/strong>, even though AI is built on top of <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/hvad-er-seo\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"63330\">SEO<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People <strong>lack contextualization and intent mapping<\/strong>\u2014and therefore cast the net too wide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People <strong>underestimate query fan-out<\/strong>\u2014that is, how a single search can trigger many different intents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/skriv-til-mennesker-og-soegemaskiner\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"64362\">write for the algorithm, not the user<\/a><\/strong>\u2014and end up with content that does not convert.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mt-blog-post-text-box mt-blog-post-text-box\"><div class=\"mt-blog-post-text-box__inner page-container\"><div class=\"mt-blog-post-text-box__box\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"virker\">So what works?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The short answer:<br\/><strong>Good old-fashioned SEO\u2014just executed with razor-sharp precision.<\/strong><br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The slightly longer answer:<br\/><\/strong>\u2705 Make sure your pages <strong>rank in the top 10<\/strong> for relevant, informational searches<br\/>\u2705 Optimize your content to <strong>answer questions<\/strong> (what, how, why)<br\/>\u2705 Use <strong>clear structures<\/strong> and context\u2014it makes it easier for AI to read you correctly<br\/>\u2705 Focus on <strong>E-E-A-T<\/strong> (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trust)<br\/>\u2705 And most importantly: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/skriv-til-mennesker-og-soegemaskiner\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"64362\">Write for people first<\/a>\u2014AI reads along afterwards<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"736\" src=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Byg-synlig-ekspertise-som-Google-og-AI-kan-genkende-1024x736-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Byg-synlig-ekspertise-som-Google-og-AI-kan-genkende-1024x736-1.png 1024w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Byg-synlig-ekspertise-som-Google-og-AI-kan-genkende-1024x736-1-300x216.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does this mean for you\u2014right now?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udc49 If you are already working seriously with SEO, you are ahead.<br\/>\ud83d\udc49 If you are chasing AI visibility without ranking in the top 10, you are shooting in the dark.<br\/>\ud83d\udc49 If your advisor says that \u201cGEO isn\u2019t SEO\u201d\u2014then you should ask about their incentives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are not saying that GEO is irrelevant.<br\/>We are simply saying:<br\/>&#8220;<strong>SEO is still the foundation.<\/strong>&#8220;<br\/>GEO strategies are only effective if the foundation is already built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"konklusion\">Conclusion: Buzzword or game changer?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GEO is not a revolution\u2014it is an <em>evolution<\/em>.<br\/>And yes, you need to think in new ways about structuring and formatting content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But you should not throw out the SEO toolbox.<br\/>On the contrary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you <strong>understand how AI builds on the SEO landscape<\/strong>, GEO suddenly becomes far less mysterious.<br\/>Then it is simply\u2026 good SEO that accounts for the next layer.<\/p>\n\n\n                                            <\/div>\n        <div class=\"mt-blog-post-content__small-related-posts\">\n                                <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GEO stands for <em>Generative Engine Optimization<\/em>\u2014and, in short, it is an approach to becoming visible in AI-generated search results, such as Google\u2019s AI Overviews.
