That is why I am focusing specifically on setting up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookiebot.com\/da\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cookiebot<\/a> in this blog post. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading opsat\" id=\"bkmrk-page-title\">Setting up Cookiebot does not take 5 minutes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is true that you can insert Cookiebot\u2019s script directly into your  file. You can also find several plugins that do it for you, including one from Cookiebot itself.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, it is important to understand what this setup actually does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you simply insert a script or use a plugin for the installation, you will get a nice \u201cconsent banner\u201d like the one shown here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"597\" src=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/cookiebanner-eksempel-2-1024x597.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63712\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/cookiebanner-eksempel-2-1024x597.png 1024w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/cookiebanner-eksempel-2-300x175.png 300w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/cookiebanner-eksempel-2-768x448.png 768w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/cookiebanner-eksempel-2.png 1798w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will also get a nice cookie declaration showing which cookies are being set on your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, then everything is wonderful and the Data Protection Agency can just come on&#8230; But NO! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem is not what you get with this setup, but what <strong>does not<\/strong> come with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ikkeblokeret\">Your cookies are not blocked until active consent<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"bkmrk-form%C3%A5let-med-cookieb\">The purpose of the Cookiebot setup is to ensure that cookies are not loaded without the user\u2019s consent, so the cookie law can be complied with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"bkmrk-det-er-et-lovkrav%2C-a\">It is a legal requirement that no third-party cookies are loaded without the user\u2019s consent, and that only strictly necessary cookies are loaded. You can read more here <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retsinformation.dk\/eli\/lta\/2011\/1148\">https:\/\/www.retsinformation.dk\/eli\/lta\/2011\/1148<\/a>, from which the following two excerpts are also taken: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"bkmrk-%C2%A7%C2%A03.%C2%A0fysiske-eller-j\"><strong><span id=\"bkmrk-%C2%A7%C2%A03.\" class=\"ParagrafNr\">\u00a7 3.<\/span> <\/strong>Natural or legal persons must not store information or gain access to information that is already stored in an end user\u2019s terminal equipment, or allow third parties to store information or gain access to information, if the end user does not give consent thereto after having received comprehensive information about the storage of or access to the information &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"bkmrk-%C2%A7%C2%A04.-uanset-%C2%A7%C2%A03-kan-\"><span id=\"bkmrk-%C2%A7%C2%A04.\" class=\"ParagrafNr\"><strong>\u00a7 4<\/strong>.<\/span> Notwithstanding \u00a7 3, natural or legal persons may store information or gain access to information that is already stored in an end user\u2019s terminal equipment if<br\/><span id=\"bkmrk-1%29\" class=\"Liste1Nr\">1)<\/span> the storage of or access to the information is carried out solely for the purpose of transmitting communication via an electronic communications network, or<br\/><span id=\"bkmrk-2%29\" class=\"Liste1Nr\">2)<\/span> the storage of or access to the information is required in order to enable the provider of an information society service, which the end user has expressly requested, to provide that service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"indhold\">What does a PROPER Cookiebot setup include?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol id=\"bkmrk-ops%C3%A6tning-af-cookieb\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Configuring Cookiebot settings in the Cookiebot dashboard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installing the Cookiebot plugin (WordPress) or setting up the script directly in the code<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Light styling of the cookie popup<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Setting up the cookie overview on the \u201cCookies &amp; Privacy Policy\u201d page<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review of cookies in Cookiebot\u2019s scan and classification of cookies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review of whether Cookiebot blocks cookies correctly, adapted to the user\u2019s choices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjusting code, loading third-party scripts, third-party plugins, etc., as required for Cookiebot to block cookies correctly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any adjustments after the first scan report following setup (typically about one month after setup)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We often see that items 3\u20138 have not been completed when the customer themselves or others have carried out the setup, resulting in a false sense of security, as cookies are not actually blocked based on the visitor\u2019s choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"bkmrk-hvad-koster-en-cooki\">So how long does it take to set up proper cookie consent?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"bkmrk-det-er-forskelligt-h\">The time required for a Cookiebot setup varies, as it depends on the individual website. We have seen setups that take 2\u20133 hours, and we have also seen setups that have taken 10+ hours. The more complex the website, the longer the setup typically takes. A setup usually takes 3\u20135 hours.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"bkmrk-en-cookiebotops%C3%A6tnin\">Therefore, we have an indicative price for Cookiebot of <strong>DKK 4,995 (excl. VAT).<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So you may be thinking, \u201cmy setup only took 10 minutes,\u201d but then it is certainly not done correctly, and your cookies will be loaded whether they are accepted or not. This is exactly what the Data Protection Agency does not want to see.
