When we talk about <em>retargeting<\/em>, we are referring to advertising on <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/hvad-betyder-some\/\">social media<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"646\" src=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63052\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/4.png 900w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/4-300x215.png 300w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/4-768x551.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"hvorfor\">Why use retargeting on social media?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The biggest advantage of using SoMe retargeting is that you know your target audience has previously shown interest in you\/your product. As a result, they will often be further along in the decision-making process than those you reach outside of SoMe retargeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, you can use your knowledge of the customer\u2019s previous behaviour to your advantage. For example, you can target people who have downloaded a brochure about a specific service from your website without converting. You can then target these people with ads for that exact service to nurture them further towards making the purchase.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"772\" height=\"704\" src=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Feature-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-64043\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Feature-5.png 772w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Feature-5-300x274.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 772px) 100vw, 772px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"beslutningsprocessen\">Meet your customers where they are in the decision-making process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Building on the above, you can also create a dedicated remarketing flow where you decide what people see at different stages of the decision-making process. Here, the first ads can be softer and gradually lead to conversion in the end. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine, for example, a conversion campaign where you target everyone who has visited the website in the last 7 days. These people might be shown videos of your products\/services\u2014perhaps even of the specific products\/services they previously looked at on the website. Over the next 8\u201314 days, they might be shown a discount code if price is the reason they have not yet converted. Finally, on days 15\u201321, you try to get them to buy from you with a \u201cbuy now\u201d button on the ad.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a difference in how long the time intervals should be, and whether a remarketing flow is beneficial at all, depending on which product\/service you sell. Feel free to base it on the typical <a href=\"https:\/\/morningbound.dk\/kunderejsen-i-centrum\/\">customer journey<\/a> and the length of the decision-making process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1672\" height=\"886\" src=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Retargeting-rytme.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63810\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Retargeting-rytme.png 1672w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Retargeting-rytme-300x159.png 300w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Retargeting-rytme-1024x543.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1672px) 100vw, 1672px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"facebookretargeting\">How do you get started with Facebook retargeting?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to get started with retargeting in Facebook Ads Manager, you must first ensure that you have a Facebook pixel on your website that can track customers\u2019 online behaviour. Then you need to set up your retargeting audiences, such as \u201cvisited the website in the last 7 days\u201d or \u201ccurrent likes and followers on Facebook\u201d. Once you have created them, you can use them in your ad sets.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, you can create copies of your retargeting audiences\u2014so-called lookalikes, or copy audiences. This allows you to target your ads to the 1\u20132\u20133 etc. % of the population that most closely resembles your retargeting audience. This is smart because it enables you to reach people who resemble others who have previously shown interest in your products\/services.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"iOS14\">What impact does iOS14 have on retargeting on Facebook?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since retargeting on Facebook, as mentioned, requires that you have set up a Facebook pixel to track people\u2019s online behaviour, the iOS14 update has had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crimtan.com\/news\/has-ios-14-killed-off-facebook-ads-and-why-that-may-a-good-thing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">major impact<\/a> on the use of retargeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-mt-blog-post-text-box mt-blog-post-text-box\"><div class=\"mt-blog-post-text-box__inner page-container\"><div class=\"mt-blog-post-text-box__box\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Probably the biggest change after iOS14 is that iOS users must now actively <em>opt in<\/em> to tracking in the app rather than <em>opt out <\/em>of it\u2014and people simply do not do that. As a result, you lose the ability to measure and run retargeting for 50\u201360% of your website visitors. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This means it is no longer possible to track them outside, for example, the Facebook\/Instagram app. So if a person clicks a link on Facebook and leaves the app, you can no longer track that the person visited the page via the link.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, that does not mean we can no longer use retargeting ads on Facebook, but the audiences have simply become half the size because they no longer include all iOS users. Therefore, it is\u2014as it always is\u2014important to continuously monitor how your ad sets are performing, and if it does not work at all, you must reconsider your retargeting ad sets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"konsekvens\">What can you do to reduce the effect of iOS14 on your retargeting ads on Facebook?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fortunately, there are some things you can do to reduce the effect of iOS14 on your retargeting ad sets on Facebook. For example, you can choose to focus on events that happen within the app itself. This could be targeting your ads to people who have watched X % of your videos on Facebook, have interacted with your page, and similar.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, you can consider putting more effort into lead generation earlier in the process.
