In other words, the company has contacted us through one of our channels. If this happens via a contact form, they have provided information about their company, enabling us to assess whether it is a lead for us.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"hvor\">Where does a lead come from?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A lead can come <strong>from the various channels<\/strong> you have set up. For example: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Contact form on your website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/what-is-call-tracking\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"63107\">Phone calls<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/what-is-google-ads\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"63683\">Google ads<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/what-does-some-mean\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"63411\">Social media<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A lead can also come from your network, and this is something you will of course need to note manually.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"koldtvarmt\">What is a cold and a warm lead?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is important to understand that a lead can be <strong>cold or warm<\/strong>. A lead can of course also be lukewarm, but to keep it simple, we will stick to the two main categories: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A cold lead<\/strong> is a contact between you and the potential customer where the company does not have commercial intent. We always advise our cold leads on how they can be matched with another agency that can help them achieve what they are looking for. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A warm lead <\/strong>, on the other hand, is a potential customer who comes with a need that matches what we sell. In other words, they come with commercial intent, if you will. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"utm\">UTM codes are worth their weight in gold<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is one thing to say that you need to track your leads\u2014but how? Tracking can be done in many different ways. The most common and effective method is to use tags set up in <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/what-is-google-tag-manager\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"63791\">Google Tag Manager<\/a> and goals set up in Google Analytics.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, this is very technical to set up and not something you can \u201cjust do\u201d if you do not have experience with it. A good alternative is <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/the-marketing-dictionary\/#utm\"><strong>UTM codes<\/strong><\/a>. class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UTM codes can be one of the most important elements when setting up lead tracking, as they allow you to backtrace the exact lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"bloedehaarde\">What are soft and hard conversions?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We cannot talk about leads without also addressing conversions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Soft conversions<\/strong>, i.e. user <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/the-marketing-dictionary\/#engagement\">engagement<\/a>, are important when you need an overview of whether your lead is genuinely interested, or whether it was someone who simply wanted to see what happens when the contact form is filled out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we receive a lead at Morningtrain, we check, among other things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How many times has this person visited the website?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How many pages has the person visited and read?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How long has the person \u201cread\u201d these pages?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How far has the person scrolled on each page?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This makes it easy for us to decide where to spend our time when it comes to optimising the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure should always be aware that some users may have already made up their mind before they become a lead. Therefore, the above approach should not be the only factor you consider when optimising. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>hard conversions<\/strong> are those we get through our contact forms\u2014yes, we have several types (if you need convincing as to why contact forms are still important, read more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/update\/urn:li:activity:6801386441353027584\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>)\u2014email, and inbound phone calls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These types of conversions are categorised as \u201chard\u201d because they involve direct communication. This means we can quickly enter into dialogue and build a relationship with them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"sqlmql\">Conversions + MQL &amp; SQL<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is how you combine soft and hard conversions with <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/what-does-mql-mean\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"63849\"><strong>Marketing Qualified Leads <\/strong><\/a>(MQL) and <strong>Sales Qualified Leads <\/strong>(SQL):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>MQL<\/strong> is a lead that has expressed interest in our brand and what we can offer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the other hand, we see an <strong>SQL <\/strong>as a potential customer who has moved through the engagement stage and is now qualified to be contacted by our consultant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this way, MQL and SQL are the same as soft and hard conversions because the same process takes place.
