That is a significant amount of revenue you could potentially be missing out on if your website is not optimised for handheld devices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, there is plenty you can do to accommodate your mobile users. Design with a mobile-first mindset<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where many go wrong is when they simply take the desktop design and adapt it so it can be displayed on a smartphone. But it is not enough to just make the elements smaller if they still shift around. In addition, you also need to factor in that our behaviour on mobile is completely different.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is partly due to the size of the smartphone. There is only so much you can do with a 5-inch screen and an even smaller keyboard. But it is also because we use mobile in very different contexts than a computer. You probably know it yourself: the phone gets pulled out of your pocket at all hours, usually when you need to find information quickly, kill time, or just get a quick fix.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"664\" src=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Frame-24845.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Frame-24845.png 960w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Frame-24845-300x208.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These factors make mobile users even more impatient than desktop users. As the owner of a B2C site, you therefore need to work with a different information structure than the one you are used to on desktop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your large images may look great on a computer screen, but for the mobile user, images can be an obstacle that gets in the way of the information they are looking for\u2014even if they have been made smaller. And while five lines of text take up almost no space on a 15-inch screen, they suddenly become a novel on mobile.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">B2B owners are not exempt either, as you should not underestimate how much research companies do on the go (read: on mobile). You may be \u201cbought\u201d on desktop, but mobile was the customer\u2019s first touch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mobile design is essentially about stripping things back so your users are only presented with what is essential. It is a difficult exercise, and unfortunately you cannot avoid having to \u201ckill your darlings\u201d, but it is crucial for the <a href=\"https:\/\/uxdesign.cc\/8-rules-of-mobile-design-1b8d9936c241\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mobile experience<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"konverteringer\">2. Pursue soft conversions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fact that mobile users are extremely impatient also means that mobile always converts worse than desktop. But that is understandable, because a 4\u20135-step checkout flow feels endlessly long on mobile. That is far too many pages to go through and far too many fields to fill in on such a small screen.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It also does not help that it takes almost nothing to hit the wrong key on the tiny keyboard\u2014and that is frustrating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"772\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Odense-Robotics-mobil.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-61353\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Odense-Robotics-mobil.png 772w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Odense-Robotics-mobil-300x280.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 772px) 100vw, 772px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So what do you do if your mobile users are reluctant to complete hard conversions such as purchases and submitting contact forms?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You focus more on soft conversions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because if you cannot get your mobile users to convert, you need to nurture them so they at least visit you on desktop later and convert there instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In other words, you are looking at creating a kind of &#8220;remind me&#8221; flow. For example, you might have a product page where, only on the mobile view, users can see a button they can tap to send the page\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/the-marketing-dictionary\/#url\">URL<\/a> to their email. This allows them to quickly access your page later and from another device.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though soft conversions do not generate profit immediately like hard conversions, they are still valuable because they help spark your users\u2019 interest in you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And when you stay on your users\u2019 radar, you increase the chance that they will choose to buy from you the day they realise they need what you sell. Examples of soft conversions include: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Product views<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Video views<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Newsletter subscription<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"736\" height=\"784\" src=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/LinkedIn-nyhedsbrev1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/LinkedIn-nyhedsbrev1.png 736w, https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/LinkedIn-nyhedsbrev1-282x300.png 282w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Added to cart<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Viewing an online catalogue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Downloading an e-book<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Likes on Facebook and Instagram<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to keeping your mobile users engaged, soft conversions also have the advantage that you can track them. And that is a feature that feels like it was sent from heaven! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"huske\">3. Help your users remember you<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another way you can take care of your mobile users is by implementing features on the mobile version that increase the chance they will remember your website later\u2014for example, by reminding them that they have interacted with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A really good example is the \u201csave my cart\u201d feature. The feature saves your users\u2019 cart if they leave your webshop without completing the purchase. If they return later, the items will still be in the cart, which may revive their interest in the products.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This way, you <a href=\"https:\/\/morningtrain.dk\/en\/have-you-misunderstood-ux\/har-du-misforstaaet-ux-2\/\">address the poor user experience<\/a> that mobile checkout often is. It should be said that \u201csave my cart\u201d is also very interesting for desktop, so we recommend simply adding the feature to your webshop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can also add a button to your products that allows users to send a product page to their email, so they can read more later (we touched on this earlier).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It serves much the same purpose as a bookmark, but with the huge bonus that you end up in their inbox. An additional bonus is that you can also use the email address for later reactivation\u2014so it is a win-win for everyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And speaking of reactivation, you should also offer your mobile users the option to sign up for an SMS service, so they can receive notifications about news, offers, discounts, special campaigns, etc. directly on their phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Again, you get the benefit of landing directly in their inbox, and you can use the phone number to market your business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Remember: Every little helps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We hope you have found inspiration for how you can optimise your webshop for mobile.
