Emelie Carén
Art Director
I work broadly with design and create, for example, logos and visual identities, print materials, graphics for social media, and website design. The most enjoyable part of my work is that I get to work with so many different styles—from strict municipal websites to Instagram Reels that need to appeal to a younger audience.
A little more about me:
I have been practising graphic design in various ways since I was 15, and I consider it a great privilege that I am able to work with my hobby.
In my work, I place great emphasis on the “why”. Every time I create a design, I believe it is important that there is a reason behind what I do. If someone asks why I have done it that way, I must always be able to provide an answer. My design should not only look good—it should make sense and have a story behind it.
A good workday:
The start of a creative process. I have just held a workshop with a client and now need to determine what the client’s solution should look like. The “canvas” is empty and ready to be filled. Here, I can think big before breaking it down and defining the scope.
Fun facts:
- I started at Morningtrain as a Swedish translator through a Facebook post.
- I prefer my soft drinks without carbonation (yes, including sparkling water), and cheese puffs that are chewy.
- My husband and I have just completed a full renovation of a half-timbered house in central Odense, about 100 metres from H.C. Andersen’s House.
