Kia takes car sales to new heights with web

Kia has been in Denmark since 1996, and at the beginning of 2021 the strategy became to elevate the customer experience digitally.

An integrated customer experience was to be created with a digital solution that would support online car purchases in the future. We are proud to be Kia’s digital partner on that journey.

Problem

Kia’s digital platform and customer journey at the time were not optimised to handle the volume of cars that Kia had strategically set out to sell online.

In addition, Kia wanted a wide range of automated and digitised workflows to support the online customer journey, which became an ongoing key focus area.

Plan

The plan was to take an exploratory approach. Therefore, together we designed the new customer journey and validated it through clickable prototypes until the optimal customer journey for buying cars online had been created.
After that, the overall delivery was broken down into several sub-deliveries, including a new website, product configurator and a new dealer portal.

Result

The results of the digital collaboration between Kia and Morningtrain are still unfolding. So far, the results have been: streamlined car orders at Kia’s dealers in a new, improved dealer portal; significantly increased car sales in the new product configurator; and data flowing between Kia’s business-critical platforms via integrations with the PIM and ERP system.

Kia’s new, unified digital platform became the solution that paved the way for a whole new dimension of car sales. With a user-friendly product configurator that pulled all data from the PIM and passed orders on to the ERP, the large number of cars sold did not become a bottleneck that limited Kia.

With Kia’s new digital platform, we made it easy and user-friendly for Kia to introduce new cars, adjust prices, accessory options and, last but not least, scale in the Danish market.

Together we identify new digital opportunities

An essential part of our many years of collaboration with Kia has been our sparring through workshops, where the outlining and roadmapping of the various digital solutions and underlying technologies have been set year by year.

The purpose has always been to connect Kia’s strong business ideas with Morningtrain’s knowledge of how we can realise them on the web.

It was in this co-creation that the whole idea of a car configurator emerged, which today is a highly important part of Kia’s business.
