When you plan social media advertising (Paid Social), it is easy to think in terms of goals:
- We want 500 new visitors
- 200 downloads of our e-book
- 50,000 views of our video
But one question quickly comes up: What should it cost?
The short answer: It depends on your content, your target audience, and your industry.
The longer—and more useful—answer is available with our ad effectiveness calculator. It gives you a realistic estimate, so you can plan, adjust, and justify your decisions with confidence.
Use the calculator to get an indication of your budget
We have created a free and simple calculator that helps you to:
- Get an overview of how many clicks, impressions, or conversions your budget will cover
- Align your expectations with reality—and not the other way around
- Make a stronger case to management or clients
- Adjust your goals based on cost per click, conversion rate, and budget
All you need is a few key figures—then the calculator does the rest.

Note: The results above are an average, which we found by analysing across clients, markets, and industries. Every case is different, and the numbers will be too.
When does it make sense to use an ad calculator?
Whether you work in-house, as a consultant, or at a digital marketing agency, the calculator can help you in situations such as:
- You need to estimate the impact of a campaign budget
- You need to justify spend to management
- You need to align expectations with a client
- You need to decide whether it makes sense to prioritise one platform over another
It is not about knowing the exact price down to the decimal, but about making better decisions on a more informed basis.
How much does it cost to advertise on Facebook?
The cost of advertising on Facebook depends on who you want to reach. Facebook runs as an auction, where your price is determined by competition and relevance. If you choose broad audiences, the price is lower—but if, for example, you want to reach decision-makers, it can quickly become expensive.
How much does an ad on Instagram cost?
Instagram advertising prices are similar to Facebook’s, but user behaviour on the platform makes the difference. Users are often more engaged, but convert less frequently directly.
According to our study, the average Instagram ad price is DKK 44.82 in CPM, DKK 5.50 in CPC and DKK 55.01 in CPA. Clicks are therefore slightly cheaper—but sales cost more.
Instagram is particularly well suited to visually strong campaigns and branding, where softer goals such as awareness or traffic are the focus.
How much does it cost to advertise on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn is the most expensive platform in our comparison—and a clear example of how social media advertising varies in price.
According to our study, the average CPM is DKK 233.22, CPC is DKK 38.57, and CPA is as high as DKK 828. In return, you get unique access to a professional audience that often has decision-making authority.
LinkedIn is an obvious choice if you work B2B and need high quality rather than quantity.
How much does it cost to advertise on TikTok?
Social media advertising via TikTok is an obvious choice if you want to reach a younger audience at low prices.
But what does it cost to advertise on TikTok? According to our study, CPM averages DKK 4.88, CPC is DKK 0.30, and CPA is DKK 29.24.
This makes TikTok the cheapest platform in the analysis. However, the format requires creative, fast-paced content that fits into users’ feeds—but it can deliver strong results for the money.
