I use Google 80% less today than I did back in 2022
As a technology enthusiast and CTO, I have noticed a remarkable change in my online behaviour. I use Google 80% less today than I did back in 2022. It is a significant change, and I would like to share how and why it happened.

What led to the change?
One of the main reasons for this change is that I have embraced new technologies and platforms. In particular, I have replaced many knowledge-based Google searches with queries to ChatGPT instead.
Why the switch from Google to ChatGPT?
I have found that ChatGPT is far more effective at helping me navigate complex technical concepts, explore labyrinths of documentation for APIs, or dive deep into knowledge about software development.
In addition, it is an excellent tool for brainstorming and “rubber-ducking” on tech-strategic topics.
How has this affected my work as a CTO?
As a CTO, my days are filled with strategic decision-making, problem-solving, and continuous learning.
With ChatGPT at my side, I can find innovative solutions to software development challenges much faster, and without the distractions of ads in the results, which were a constant in my Google searches.
What are the benefits of using Google less?
In addition to saving time and increasing efficiency, I have also noticed that I am less dependent on Google’s algorithms to find information.
I can explore topics in greater depth and from different perspectives, thanks to ChatGPT’s ability to generate different answers based on the same input.
What are the downsides of using Google less?
Of course, there are also downsides to using Google less. For example, I have found that I sometimes miss news and updates in the tech world that I would have come across in my Google searches.
However, I have found new ways to stay up to date, such as following relevant blogs and newsletters.
What does the future look like for my online behaviour?
I expect that I will continue to use Google less in the future as I find new and more effective ways to find and process information.
It is an exciting time to be in the tech industry, and I look forward to seeing what the future brings.
